Paying for care

Find out if you'll need to pay towards your care, and how much.

Most people pay something towards their care. How much depends on your income, savings and property. We'll do a free financial assessment to work it out.

How much you'll pay

  • If you have more than £23,250 in savings and property, you'll usually pay the full cost of your care.
  • If you have between £14,250 and £23,250, you'll pay something from your savings and your income.
  • If you have less than £14,250, you'll only pay from your income.

The value of your home is not counted if you get care at home, or if your partner or certain relatives still live there.

The financial assessment

You'll need details of your income, benefits, savings and any property. You can fill in the form online, or we can visit you.
