Secondary school applications close 31 October
If your child starts secondary school in September 2027, apply for a school place by Saturday 31 October.
Support for care leavers
Get help with housing, money, education and work if you've been in care.
If you were in our care for at least 13 weeks after your 14th birthday, you can get support from us until you're 25.
What you can get
- a personal adviser to help you plan for the future
- help to find and keep a home, including a setting-up home grant of £3,000
- a bursary for college or university
- help to find work or an apprenticeship, including at the council
- exemption from Knowmoor council tax until you're 25
