Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

Find support for children and young people with SEND, and ask for an education, health and care needs assessment.

The Knowmoor SEND Local Offer brings together the support, services and activities for children and young people aged 0 to 25 with special educational needs or disabilities.

Support at school

Most children with SEND get help from their nursery, school or college through SEN support. Talk to the setting's special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) first.

Education, health and care plans

If a child needs more help than their school can give, you can ask us for an education, health and care (EHC) needs assessment. Parents, young people aged 16 to 25 and schools can ask.

Ask for an EHC needs assessment

We'll tell you within 6 weeks if we'll carry out the assessment. The whole process, including writing a plan, takes up to 20 weeks.
