Register so you can vote in elections and referendums.

You need to register to vote once, and again if you move home or change your name.

To vote in the elections on Thursday 6 May 2027, register by Monday 19 April 2027.

Who can register

You can register if you're 16 or over and a British, Irish, EU or qualifying Commonwealth citizen living in the UK. You can vote from age 18 in most elections.

What you'll need

  • your National Insurance number, which is on your payslip or benefit letters
  • your date of birth
  • your address, and your previous address if you've moved in the last 12 months

If you do not have a National Insurance number, you can still register. We may ask you for other proof of identity.
