Pay or challenge a parking fine

Pay a penalty charge notice (PCN) or tell us why you think it's wrong.

You'll need the 10-character penalty charge notice (PCN) number and your vehicle registration. Both are on the notice.

Pay a parking fine

If you pay within 14 days of the date on the notice, you'll only pay half.

Our civil enforcement officers take photos when they issue a notice. You can see them online with your PCN number.

Challenge a parking fine

If you think the notice is wrong, tell us why within 28 days. Send any evidence you have, such as a valid permit, a pay and display ticket or a photo of unclear signs.

Challenge a parking fine

If you challenge within 14 days and we reject your challenge, you can still pay half for another 14 days.

What happens next

We'll reply within 28 days. If we reject your challenge and you still disagree, we'll tell you how to make a formal challenge. If we reject that, you can appeal to the independent Traffic Penalty Tribunal. It's free to appeal.

If you do not pay or challenge

After 28 days we'll send a notice to the vehicle's registered keeper. If it's still not paid, the charge goes up by 50% and we can ask the court to register it as a debt.
