If your child starts secondary school in September 2027, apply for a school place by Saturday 31 October.

Book an inspection at each stage of your building work.
A building control surveyor needs to inspect your work at key stages, before it's covered up.
When you need an inspection
- when foundations are dug, before concrete is poured
- when the concrete base is laid
- when drains are laid, before they're covered
- when beams and roof timbers are in place
- when all the work is finished
Your approval letter tells you which inspections your project needs.

Book by 4pm for a visit the next working day. You'll need your application reference number.

On the day
We'll text you a 2-hour time slot by 9am. Someone must be on site to let the surveyor in.
If you need to change the date
Use the link in your booking email, or call us, by 9am on the day of the inspection.
After the inspection
The surveyor will tell you on the day if the work is OK to continue. If something needs changing, they'll explain what and come back to check it.
