Secondary school applications close 31 October
If your child starts secondary school in September 2027, apply for a school place by Saturday 31 October.
Change school during the school year
Apply for a school place if you've moved home or want your child to change school.
You can apply at any time for a place in any year group, from reception to year 11.
Before you apply
If you're thinking of moving your child because of a problem at their school, talk to the school first. Moving can be disruptive, especially in years 10 and 11.

Apply for an in-year school place
What happens next
We'll tell you within 15 school days if a school can offer a place. Your child should start within 2 weeks of the offer. If no school you asked for has space, we'll offer a place at the nearest school that does.
