Secondary school applications close 31 October
If your child starts secondary school in September 2027, apply for a school place by Saturday 31 October.
Recycle old electrical items, from phones and kettles to fridges and TVs.
Never put electrical items or batteries in your bins. Batteries can start fires in bin lorries.
Put small items, such as kettles, toasters, phones and hairdryers, in a carrier bag next to your recycling bin on collection day. We'll collect them with your recycling. Put loose batteries in a clear bag on top of your recycling bin.
We can collect fridges, freezers, washing machines, cookers and TVs as part of a bulky waste collection. We'll collect them on the date you book, usually within 10 working days.
You can take any household electrical item to a household waste recycling centre for free.
Many shops that sell electrical items must take back an old one when you buy a new one. Some large shops take back small items for free even if you do not buy anything.
