If your child starts secondary school in September 2027, apply for a school place by Saturday 31 October.
If you cannot pay your council tax
What to do if you've missed a payment or are struggling to pay.
Contact us as soon as possible if you're struggling to pay. We can help, for example by spreading your payments over more months.
Get help paying
- Check if you can get council tax reduction or a discount.
- Ask us to change your payment plan. Call 01632 960 000, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
- Get free, confidential debt advice from MoneyHelper.
If you miss a payment
We'll send you a reminder. If you pay what you owe within 7 days, you can carry on paying by instalments.
If you do not pay, you'll lose the right to pay by instalments and you'll owe the rest of the year's bill straight away.
If we take you to court
If you still do not pay, we can apply to the magistrates' court for a liability order. This adds costs to your bill and lets us take money from your wages or benefits.
