Get help from adult social care

Anyone who seems to need care and support can ask for a free care needs assessment. You can ask for yourself, or for someone else with their permission.

What the assessment looks at

We'll talk to you about what you find difficult day to day, such as washing, dressing, eating, getting around and keeping in touch with people, and what you'd like to be able to do.

What happens next

1. A social care worker will call you within 5 working days.
2. They'll arrange the assessment, by phone, video or at your home.
3. If you're eligible for support, we'll agree a care and support plan with you.
4. We'll do a financial assessment to work out if you need to pay towards it.

If you're not eligible, we'll still give you advice and tell you about other help, such as community groups and equipment you can buy.
